Ever since I read Douglas Brinkley's Majic Bus: An American Odyssey, I've wanted to cram a group of friends inside a reliable, plush vehicle and head south. Since our schedules and finances aren't likely to line up soon, I'd like to take you along with my brand spanking new blog.
You may already know that I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in a National Endowment for the Humanities Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshop.
In particular, I'm on my way to the most southern place on earth. Cleveland, Mississippi. Well, I'll be on my way later. For now, I wanted to share some of the prepwork with you.
The books. The music. The movies. The food. The personalities. You know what I mean.

And, yes, when I get there, I want to show you all the pictures!
So, get on the virtual bus! No nagging saddle sores, no skyrocketing pump prices, no crossing your legs till the next rest stop. Leave that to me.
It's all of the dazzle with none of the hassle for you, dear reader.
